Improving the availability of advance directives

Context

In Switzerland about 12% of people have advance directives. When they are not available or cannot be found, family caregivers or first responders have to decide what the patient shall have wanted.

Proposed solution

A platform connected to the patient electronic file will allow patients to easily document and make available advance directive to first responders.

Benefits

  • Improve the chances that care is consistent with patient's wishes
  • Decrease the burden of decision for family caregivers and first responders
  • Increase the documentation of advance directives through the platform and the patient electronic file

The project is founded by the canton Vaud within the program Vieillir 2030.
